Shinola Launches Love Locks
World-class watches, beautiful leather goods, high-integrity audio, thoughtful gifts, and soon, a hotel. That’s exactly what Detroit brand, Shinola is all about. Shinola tries to make it better. With relentless optimism, tenacity, humor, and humility, Shinola helps people shine in an understated way.
Inspired by the love locks tradition made popular by the Pont des Arts in Paris, Shinola is excited to announce the launch of Shinola Love Locks. This locally manufactured lock was custom designed featuring a Shinola watch dial inspired charm, intended for romantics to engrave their initials along with their partner’s to symbolize their lasting love.
Once engraved, customers are invited to show their commitment by locking their Shinola Love Locks on the fence installation in Parker’s Alley behind the Shinola Hotel in Detroit.
“We are excited to revive this romantic gesture here in Detroit, the Paris of the Midwest, for locals and visitors to enjoy,” said Shinola Creative Director Daniel Caudill.
Shinola Love Locks are manufactured locally by Commando Lock Company. Established in 2006, Commando Lock Company is a U.S. manufacturer of military grade padlock systems.
