SON JUNG WAN at NYFW: Enchanting Romance Collection SPRING 2023
Son Jung Wan returned to NYFW for Spring 2023 sharing a mesmerizing collection focusing on emphasizing the woman’s silhouette through natural draping, voluminous pleating, and dramatic collar detailing. The collection displays sophisticated yet rhythmical colors and textures.
All models wore a clean “bare-face” on the runway and accessorized each ensemble with high heels or platform heels. Hairstyles resembled the ’80s. The ready-to-wear collection is filled with candy stripes, neon pink, cyan, lavender gowns, and mini-dresses.
You may recognize her pieces from popular Korean dramas. Or, maybe you’ve seen her garments on your favorite actresses and reality stars. She’s dressed several celebrities and models throughout the years and they even make it a point to attend her shows. Her celebrity NYFW attendees this year included singer Adekunle Gold, actors Amanda McCants, Samantha Ware, Danielle Vasinova, RHOM Guerdy Abraira, RHOP Ashley Darby, Miss Earth Lindsey Coffey, models, Tanaye White, and Jordan Emanuel along with a dose of reality TV & content creators including Aaliyah Jay.
Many designers are in the creative habit of transforming each of their collections to fit the latest trends, colors, and sometimes even audience expectations. Son though has proven time and time again that she has the ability to reinvent her use of textures and colors while staying true to her own style. She’s known for bright color and heavy textures and is also known for her vibrant and memorable shows.
