Local Fashion Designer Rachna Chandra Joins Local Non-Profit, Glamorous Moms Foundation to Support Women and Children

 

Rachna Chandra is a mother of two and a Fashion designer for her clothing and shoe line, Taj Cottage INC. Rachna was born and raised in Agra (India) city of Taj Mahal. Graduated in bachelor of science and computers. Rachna has migrated in 1997 to the United States with her husband and furthered her education in Computer Information systems.

Rachna is known for her perseverance and attention to detail. She has worked as a faculty member at Henry Ford College and spearheaded the industrial sewing program where she taught the class for 3 years. She has also worked in designing soft trims for automotive industries. Her boutique Taj Cottage, is an Indian Bridal Boutique in Farmington Hills, Michigan catering to all ethnicities since 2005.

Rachna is very well known and connected in the Indian community. She truly believes in empowering and helping others and gives back to the community whenever she can. Her passion also involves producing fashion shows and pageants. She believes these platforms enhance confidence and boosts self-esteem. She is the co-founder and former board member of the non-profit organization, DIWA – Detroit Indian Women Association, where “Empowered Women Empower Women”. She also serves on the board of advisors in The Indian Scene, a digital Indian magazine.

Rachna has also produced events to empower youth with their talent of dancing and singing, which had raised funds for the Schoolcraft College food pantry. One of her latest titles is the co-founder of the upcoming pageantry “Michigan Ambassador Pageant”, a pageant system for all ages. During the pandemic lockdown, she selflessly started a Mask Mission, over the period of 4 months and with the help of 45 plus volunteers, her team produced more than 11,000 masks and gowns that were donated back out to the community. Together, their efforts raised close to $16,000 which helped the mission to run successfully.

Now to further her efforts in the community, Rachna Chandra has joined the Glamorous Moms Foundation board to support women, children, and families in vulnerable communities. GMF is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The group’s vision is to provide a giving and comforting community that educates, strengthens, and supports moms, expectant moms, women, children, and families who need it most. Their efforts lead to positive social change and deliver support to individuals and organizations through love, advocacy, and service.
