This year’s Golden Globes were classy and scrumptious to say the least. Viewers wanted more of hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey as they entertained everyone with fun, light and tasteful jokes. This year, laughter and smiles filled the room when the two comedians spoke instead of “boos” and scowls like a few years back when Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes in 2010.
As far as fashion goes, the men were sleek and close to perfect. Many of the guy’s stylists outdid themselves and Hollywood’s leading men gave the women a run for their money on the red carpet this year. Frankly, I’ve never been so impressed than I have this year with the gentlemen on the red carpet. When it comes to the ladies, there were just a few bad choices that made me cringe. Instead of getting into detail here, read below and see who my picks are for “worst” dressed and “best” dressed at the 2014 Golden Globes.
Worst Dressed
Julia Roberts wearing Dolce & Gabbana was a total miss this weekend. Take the blouse off and that god awful white belt and then we can talk. This is simply not glamorous enough for the red carpet. Especially the Golden Globes red carpet. Sorry Julia, we love you but this dress was not right for the evening.
Lena Dunham wears Zac Posen during the Golden Globes. Ok, love them both but this was not a match made in heaven. At all quite frankly. The color is wrong for her, the design at the bust line is wrong for her body type, it’s ill fitting and her hair, makeup and jewelry were all way too simple. If this dress was the last dress on earth and she absolutely had to wear it, I would have put an oversized, dramatic ruby necklace on her, demand a fuller hair style by her salon team, have a minimal spray tan applied and expect simple eyes with a very bold lip.

Sorry, but this was a complete miss for me. This Tom Ford gown was not right for Hayden Panettiere at all. The only thing that is right is the fit. The neckline and simple straps do nothing for her body type and the black and white color choice does nothing for her features or skin type. Hayden’s hair is not quite what I would have chosen for her, but a light spray tan and a beautiful color gown(any color is better than this) would have wowed the crowd. I’m thinking beaded peach, bold oxblood or chiffon pink would have been better choices.
Best Dressed

Taylor Swift isn’t new to the red carpet but she was one of the youngest among Hollywood’s finest last night and honestly, she got everything right! The dress is a stunning and dramatic length, the fit is perfect and the color looks beautiful with her hair, skin and bold lip color. (Lena Dunham should take notes). I just love her entire look.

Every red carpet diva strives to find a one of a kind dress that no one else will have. Lupita Nyong’o chose this striking Ralph Lauren gown that not only took my breath away but also left me wanting more. The color is perfect with her beautiful skin tone and the bright red speaks for itself. Her clean simple hair looks more elegant then she probably planned. Everything about this is right. It’s soooo right.

Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen. I loved Sofia’s long black gown with a pop of color along her collar bone. Her dress screams elegance and so does her necklace. Her long simple hair style was clean and beautiful. This is something Vergara isn’t used to (she usually wears tight from head to toe) and because of that, I love it even more.

Paula Patton is getting lots of criticism for this dress but I actually love it. Not everyone can wear tight and white (and most people shouldn’t) but she can. I’m putting her on my best dressed list because she took a chance and it worked for her, her beautiful figure, her sleek skin tone and stunning hair color. I only wish her hair was slicked back into a low bun. Everyone knows I love drama on the runway and this dress screams runway drama!
Other favorites are Olivia Wilde, Anna Gunn, Margot Robbie, Emma Roberts, Kate Blanchet and Kate Beckinsale. As for the men, my absolute favorite is Bradley Cooper. Who says “no one’s perfect”? If it was you, Bradley Cooper just proved you wrong!

Bradley Cooper wore a Tom Ford tuxedo and accessorized it with his baby blues and a great smile. There’s just something about a clean shaven well dressed man with tamed hair. Perfect in every way…especially for the red carpet.
